Following the recent Pune Porsche accident that resulted in the loss of two lives, another unfortunate road accident has occurred in Mumbai. A 32-year-old man, identified as Irfan Nawab Ali Shaikh, tragically lost his life after a collision with a 15-year-old minor in the Mazgaon area of Mumbai.
The incident took place when the minor, riding a bike, collided with Irfan, causing severe injuries. Irfan was immediately rushed to JJ Hospital for medical treatment, but unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries.
Authorities have taken the 15-year-old accused into custody, along with his father, Javed Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh. The JJ Marg police have filed a case under section 304(2) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 of the Motor Vehicle Act in connection with the tragic accident.
This incident comes in the wake of another recent road accident in Pune, where a 17-year-old minor caused a fatal crash while driving a Porsche under the influence of alcohol. The reckless driving led to the deaths of two individuals, prompting public outrage and swift action from law enforcement.
Following the Pune incident, the juvenile driver was initially granted bail, which sparked controversy and public outcry. Conditions of the bail included writing a 300-word essay, undertaking educational programs with traffic authorities, and providing a monetary surety.
In the latest developments, a local court has ordered the minor’s father and two employees of the establishment that served alcohol to the minor to be held in police custody for further investigation until May 24.
These tragic incidents serve as stark reminders of the importance of road safety and responsible driving. Authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served and to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
