Accident – Death – Obituary News : Days following a tragic incident in Pune involving a Porsche car that claimed the lives of two individuals on May 19, a 15-year-old boy on a bike collided with another biker in Mumbai early on Thursday, resulting in the latter’s untimely death.
According to authorities, the minor was apprehended at the scene, while his elderly father was taken into custody later in the day for permitting him to operate his motorcycle.
The unfortunate event took place around 7.15 am on Thursday, as the two bikers were travelling in opposite directions on Nesbit Bridge in Mazgaon, Byculla, when they collided with each other.
A spokesperson from JJ Marg police station disclosed, “The 15-year-old set out to grab breakfast in the morning without informing his father about borrowing his bike. Tragically, he collided with another biker coming from the opposite direction, resulting in his demise.”
The deceased has been identified as Irfan Nawab Ali Shaikh, aged 32, who managed a garment business from his residence in Mazgaon.
Following the collision, the minor remained at the scene as bystanders promptly alerted the authorities.
“Our team swiftly responded to the scene and transported the injured individual to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” stated an officer.
A case of reckless and negligent driving has been filed against the minor under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.
“We have detained the minor and placed him in a remand home. Subsequently, his father was arrested for his negligence, which led to the accident. He should have ensured that his underage son was not operating his motorcycle,” an investigator remarked.
The father is reportedly engaged in the shoe-making business, as per police reports.
