Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A car that was reportedly driving in the wrong direction collided with a motorcycle on a major parkway in the state on Tuesday night, resulting in the tragic death of the motorcyclist, as confirmed by State Police. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.

According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research, a division of the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, an average of 162 motorcyclists lost their lives on New York state roads between 2017 and 2021.

Statistics from Cellino Law suggest that there are over 750,000 motorcyclists traversing the state’s roads.

Tragedy on the Southern State Parkway

New York State Police released a statement indicating that troopers were summoned to the Southern State Parkway in the town of Islip late on Tuesday following reports of a vehicle driving in the wrong direction. The vehicle was seen near exit 43A.

The State Police reported that a Blue 2004 Buick, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes, collided with a 2005 Black Honda motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

Following the collision, the motorcyclist was ejected from their vehicle. Both drivers were transported to a nearby medical facility, with the Buick driver sustaining minor injuries. Regrettably, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

The deceased motorcyclist has been identified as 42-year-old Hugo H. Cajamarca from Patchogue.
