A 24-year-old woman from Rodeo, Daelanni Turner, has been charged with a series of serious offences after allegedly reversing a stolen vehicle into a San Pablo police detective. The incident, which took place on February 23, resulted in a tense confrontation between Turner and the police.

Charges and Court Proceedings

Turner faces a total of five felonies and two misdemeanours, including assault on a peace officer, hit and run, and charges related to two separate police chases that occurred during the incident. Additionally, she has been charged with providing false information to officers during her arrest in April.

Following a preliminary hearing on May 20, Turner was held to answer and is scheduled to appear in court next on May 28. She is currently being held at the West Contra Costa Detention Facility on a bail amount of £173,000.

Details of the Incident

The incident began around 1 p.m. on February 23 when Detective Joshua Hearn attempted to pull over a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu that had been reported stolen in Oakland. The car fled from Hearn, leading to a chase involving multiple officers. The pursuit continued until the stolen vehicle was abandoned in Oakland on February 27.

During the chase, Detective Hearn found himself positioned on one side of the Chevrolet while another patrol officer was on the other side. Turner, behind the wheel of the stolen car, allegedly accelerated towards Hearn, prompting him to fire his pistol at the car’s windshield. Fortunately, neither Turner nor her male passenger were hit by the gunfire.

As a result of the incident, Detective Hearn sustained a knee injury and was hospitalised. Turner was eventually apprehended on April 22 and formally charged two days later. A trial date for her case is yet to be determined.

Authorities were able to identify Turner as a suspect through medical paperwork that was discovered inside the stolen vehicle. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with law enforcement officials working to gather more evidence and testimony.
