A suspect wanted for a series of bank frauds along the East Coast was apprehended on Tuesday in Chicopee after a bank teller’s vigilance foiled an attempted larceny using a counterfeit ID.
Alert Bank Teller Prevents Fraud
The Chicopee Police Department received a call at 1:39 p.m. reporting suspicious activity at a local bank. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect, identified as 62-year-old Christopher Fetters from Folcroft, Pennsylvania, was trying to make a substantial withdrawal using a fake driver’s license.
Investigation Confirms Forgery
Further investigation confirmed that the suspect’s license was indeed forged. Fetters, already wanted in Orange County, Florida, and Doylestown, Pennsylvania, for similar offences, was also under scrutiny by multiple local branches for various thefts.
Charges Filed Against Fetters
Christopher Fetters now faces charges of identity fraud, attempted larceny, possession or use of a false or stolen RMV document, misleading a police officer, and being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant.

The Chicopee Police Department commended the bank teller for her swift actions, which led to the timely arrest of the suspect. Her alertness and diligence prevented what could have been a successful fraud attempt.
