Accident – Death – Obituary News :

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man accused of kidnapping a woman in Old Town Clovis after posing as an Uber driver appeared in court where he pleaded not guilty to rape by the use of drugs charges, the Fresno County District’s Attorney Office revealed on Thursday.

The defendant, Bikramjit Singh, aged 27, entered his plea on Tuesday in connection with the alleged abduction of a woman in Old Town Clovis. The incident occurred when the victim, mistaking Singh for her Uber driver, entered his vehicle and was subsequently driven to an undisclosed location where she was sexually assaulted.

Police were alerted to the situation on April 21 after a concerned individual reported seeing a woman entering a light-colored SUV with an unfamiliar male at the wheel near Clovis Avenue and 4th Street in Old Town Clovis.

Following the assault, the victim was dropped off near her residence by the perpetrator, prompting her to walk the remaining distance home. It was later confirmed by Uber officials that no vehicle matching the description of Singh’s SUV was registered with the company. Additionally, the victim did not request an Uber ride at any point during the evening.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities on May 17, accompanied by legal representation. Singh is scheduled to appear in court again on June 18 for further proceedings related to the case.
