Anthony Lane : Chicago Man Sentenced 58 Years for Assault on Elderly Woman

CHICAGO (CBS) — A man from Glendale Heights has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a 92-year-old woman in 2021, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In January, after two days of deliberations, a jury found Anthony Lane, 58, guilty of one count of home invasion and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

The incident took place on November 22, 2021, when the victim returned home from her dialysis appointment and entered her attached garage. Upon closing the garage door, she encountered Lane standing in her doorway. Lane forced the door open, pushed her inside, bound her hands with duct tape, and sexually assaulted her in her bedroom before fleeing the scene.

The victim immediately called 911 and was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Following an investigation, Lane was identified as the suspect and was arrested by Addison police on December 2, 2021. He has been in custody at the DuPage County Jail since then.

Initially facing up to 120 years in prison, Lane will now serve 85% of his 58-year sentence before being eligible for parole. He will also receive credit for the time spent in the county jail.
