In a recent development, the individual responsible for the heinous 2019 murder and dismemberment in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma confirmed the sentencing of 28-year-old Alex Ray Scott to 540 months behind bars and five years of supervised release for the second-degree murder committed in Indian Country.

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson stated, “Alex Scott has been convicted for the brutal murder and dismemberment of Robin Skocdopole. This successful prosecution was made possible by the thorough investigation and excellent cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. We remain committed to collaborating with our law enforcement partners to ensure that violent offenders are held accountable for their actions.”

It was noted that in 2022, Scott was reportedly undergoing a gender transition while incarcerated in New York for a separate homicide case.

Case Details Unveiled

The U.S. Attorney’s Office released a statement providing further insights into the Broken Arrow case. According to court documents, Scott walked into a police station in New York City in January 2020 and confessed to another unrelated murder. During subsequent investigations, it was discovered that Scott was in possession of identification and credit cards belonging to Robin Skocdopole from Broken Arrow.

Law enforcement officers attempted to contact Skocdopole, but their efforts proved futile. In February 2020, a search of Skocdopole’s residence in Broken Arrow revealed signs of a struggle, including blood spatters and a significant pool of blood.

Forensic analysis confirmed that the blood belonged to Skocdopole. In May 2020, human remains identified as Skocdopole’s were found near a creek in Broken Arrow, with the Medical Examiner’s report indicating the use of saws in the dismemberment process.

Further investigations revealed that Scott had been fitted with an ankle monitor in July 2019 while awaiting trial for an unrelated case in Tulsa County District Court. The last confirmed sighting of Skocdopole was in August 2019, during which Scott claimed that Skocdopole had relocated to Dallas for work.

Key Evidence Emerges

Friends of Skocdopole informed authorities that they received vague and suspicious messages from Scott when attempting to contact him. Analysis of Scott’s ankle monitor data revealed his movements leading to the disposal of body parts, with bank records confirming the purchase and subsequent return of a chainsaw by Scott.

In May 2023, Scott agreed to an interview with the FBI, providing details on the murder, dismemberment, and disposal of the body. Despite promising to lead the FBI to Skocdopole’s head, no additional remains were discovered at the designated location.

Scott will remain in custody until the conclusion of the New York case, after which they will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility. In the New York proceedings, Scott has entered a plea of not guilty.
