The Maharashtra Transport Commissioner, Vivek Bhimanwar, made a significant announcement regarding the 17-year-old boy involved in a tragic accident in Pune. The teenager, responsible for fatally hitting two motorcycle-borne IT professionals with his Porsche, will face severe consequences. Bhimanwar stated that the boy will be prohibited from obtaining a driving licence until he reaches the age of 25.
Registration Woes for the Porsche Taycan
Aside from the driving ban, the permanent registration of the Porsche Taycan has faced hurdles. It was revealed that the owner had failed to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,758, leading to the pending status of the vehicle’s registration since March. The luxury car was involved in the fatal accident in Kalyani Nagar, prompting the Transport Commissioner to take strict action.
Unpaid Fees Lead to Temporary Registration
Upon inspection at the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO), it was uncovered that a specific registration fee had not been settled by the owner. This led to the car’s temporary registration, as it had been imported by a Bengaluru-based dealer. However, the final registration process had not been completed, causing further complications.
Penalties Under the Motor Vehicles Act
Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, the Porsche Taycan will not be allowed to register at any RTO for a period of 12 months. The temporary registration will be cancelled, and the vehicle will be impounded for the specified duration. This action was deemed necessary due to the owner’s negligence in fulfilling registration requirements.
Legal Proceedings and Consequences
Following the accident, the teenage driver faces multiple charges, including driving over 160 kmph and allegedly being under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, he was found to be driving without a valid licence and registration, leading to further legal complications. The teen is scheduled to appear before a juvenile court in Pune to address the charges brought against him.
Family Involvement and Police Investigation
The teen’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real estate developer, was also arrested in connection with the incident. The police have been conducting a thorough investigation, including obtaining the teen’s blood report from a state government hospital. Furthermore, the authorities are awaiting the juvenile court’s decision before pursuing further legal action.

The two IT professionals tragically killed in the accident have been identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, both 24 years old and hailing from Madhya Pradesh.
