64-Year-Old Man Arrested for Fatal DUI Crash in South Phoenix

PHOENIX – Authorities have reported that a 64-year-old man has been taken into custody following a tragic incident on Tuesday night in south Phoenix. The man is accused of driving under the influence and causing a fatal collision that resulted in the death of another individual.

According to the police, the collision occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on May 21 near the intersection of 16th Street and Broadway Road. The victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a truck traveling south on 16th Street.

Sergeant Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department stated, “Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Initial findings suggest that the victim was in the roadway when he was hit by the southbound truck.”

Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the truck, identified as Steven Muniz, remained at the location and cooperated with law enforcement. He was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and issued a criminal citation.

Sgt. Bower added, “At this time, no further details are available regarding the incident.”
