In a heartbreaking incident, three Indian-American students lost their lives in a fatal road accident in the US state of Georgia. The tragic incident occurred when their speeding car flipped over on Westside Parkway in Alpharetta, resulting in the death of Sriya Avasarala, Anvi Sharma, and Aryan Joshi. Two other passengers, Rithwak Somepalli and Mohammed Liyakath, sustained injuries in the crash.
The Alpharetta police revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and come to a rest upside down in a tree line. The impact of the crash was so severe that it led to the closure of the roadway between Hembree Road and Maxwell Road. Joshi and Avasarala were tragically found dead at the scene, while Sharma succumbed to her injuries at North Fulton Hospital.
All five occupants of the car were 18 years old, with Somepalli being a student at Georgia State University and Liyakath a senior at Alpharetta High School. Avasarala and Sharma were also students at the University of Georgia, adding to the immense loss felt by the academic community.
