In a shocking turn of events, a 17-year-old boy from Jacksonville, Florida, has been arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy in connection with two killings that occurred in 2022, including the death of his own father.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Shane Payne Jr., who was already in custody on unrelated charges, has now been implicated in the deaths of Shane Payne and Timothy Dixon.
According to investigators, Dixon, aged 16, was identified as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of Shane Payne on August 3, 2022, inside a residence on Sandle Drive in the Forest Trails neighbourhood. Reports indicated that several children, including a 4-year-old, were present in the home at the time of the incident.
Further investigation revealed that Shane Payne Jr. played a role in assisting Dixon in the shooting of his own father.
Just three days after the first tragedy, Shane Payne Jr. was allegedly involved in another fatal shooting, this time taking the life of Timothy Dixon at an apartment complex on Ortega Farms Boulevard. Dixon succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that evidence and interviews conducted by investigators established a clear link between the two shootings.
Shane Payne Jr. now faces two charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, as authorities continue to piece together the events leading to these tragic incidents.
