The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a teenager in connection with the murder of his father and another individual. The shocking incident involved two separate shooting investigations that ultimately led to the arrest of the suspect.
In August 2022, officers responded to a call on Sandle Drive where they discovered Shane Payne Sr. inside his residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, Payne Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a homicide investigation.
Just three days later, law enforcement responded to another shooting incident on Ortega Farms Boulevard. This time, they found 16-year-old Timothy Dixon suffering from a gunshot wound. Dixon was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Following thorough investigations by the Homicide and Crime Scene units of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, evidence from both crime scenes and witness interviews linked the two shootings together.
Investigators determined that Timothy Dixon was responsible for the murder of Shane Payne Sr. with assistance from the victim’s son, 17-year-old Shane Payne Jr. Payne Jr., who was already in custody on unrelated charges, now faces additional charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in relation to Dixon’s death.
