Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a teenager in connection with the murder of his father and another individual, following two separate shooting investigations.
The incidents took place in August 2022, with the first shooting occurring on Sandle Drive. Authorities responded to find Shane Payne Sr. inside his home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just three days later, officers were called to Ortega Farms Boulevard where they discovered 16-year-old Timothy Dixon with a gunshot wound. Dixon was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide and Crime Scene units conducted thorough investigations at both crime scenes. Through evidence collected and witness interviews, they were able to establish a connection between the two shootings.
Authorities determined that Timothy Dixon was responsible for the murder of Shane Payne Sr., with the assistance of the victim’s son, 17-year-old Shane Payne Jr. The latter was identified as the suspect in Dixon’s murder three days later.
At the time of his arrest, Shane Payne Jr. was already in custody on unrelated charges. He is now facing additional charges of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
