Samuel O. Omamogho : “Midland Shooting Suspect Identified”

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The suspect arrested on Tuesday evening in connection with a deadly shooting in Midland has been named as 33-year-old Samuel O. Omamogho, according to arrest records.

At approximately 5:44 p.m. on May 21, officers from the Midland Police Department were dispatched to the 6700 block of Rio Bravo following a 911 call reporting a disturbance involving weapons. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a deceased individual in the street, who has not yet been publicly identified.

The alleged shooter, later confirmed as Omamogho, was apprehended at the scene and subsequently charged with Murder. Records from the local jail indicate that he is currently held at the Midland County Detention Center as of Wednesday morning, with no bond set at this time.

Given that the investigation remains ongoing, the Midland Police Department has refrained from disclosing extensive details, apart from confirming the fatality and the arrest. The sequence of events leading up to the shooting remains undisclosed. However, a video circulated on social media shortly after the incident depicted a man brandishing a firearm while walking through a northern Midland neighbourhood.

The footage captured Omamogho moving between two residences, wherein he repeatedly discharged his weapon towards one specific property. Eyewitnesses at the scene identified Omamogho as a resident living across the street from the targeted house. These witnesses recounted that the homeowner emerged from the property upon hearing the commotion and tragically met their demise in the street.
