Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 33-year-old man from Oakland County, identified as Ryan Borella of Rochester Hills, is currently facing felony charges following a road rage incident in Macomb County. The incident allegedly involved Borella confronting two individuals in an SUV with a knife during a traffic dispute.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Borella was arraigned on Monday in 41A District Court in Shelby Township. He is facing two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon.

The confrontation took place on Saturday in the vicinity of North Avenue and 24 Mile Road in Macomb Township. The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old man from Roseville, reported to authorities that Borella, the driver of the pickup truck, had exited his vehicle and approached him with a knife.

Both the driver of the SUV and his 38-year-old female passenger expressed fear for their safety during the incident. The road rage episode reportedly began when the SUV driver was travelling on North Avenue at 21 Mile Road and Borella, unable to merge, started driving erratically.

Borella allegedly passed the SUV before stopping at a red light at 24 Mile Road, at which point he confronted the victim with the knife. Sheriff’s deputies intervened and arrested Borella without any issues, finding the knife in his vehicle.

Borella’s bond has been set at $20,000 cash or surety. If convicted, he could face up to four years in prison for the assault charges and five years for the dangerous weapon charge. A preliminary exam is scheduled for June 6.

In addition to the recent charges, Borella is also due back in court on May 30 for a charge of driving while his license was suspended. In a previous case from 2023, he was charged with assaulting a Shelby Township police officer and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

In a plea bargain agreement, Borella pleaded guilty to amended charges of attempted assaulting a police officer and operating while impaired by liquor, resulting in prosecutors dropping the initial charges. Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Michael Servitto sentenced him to 18 months of probation and 90 hours of community service.
