A suspect in a shooting incident that occurred in Prichard in April, which resulted in the death of one man and the injury of another, has been apprehended in Georgia, as confirmed by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

On April 27, Prichard police and MCSO deputies responded to the scene of the shooting where they discovered a gray Ford Edge containing a deceased victim, later identified as 33-year-old Donta Evans from Galveston, Texas. Evans had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to the investigators.

Further investigation revealed that there were three other individuals in the vehicle with Evans at the time of the shooting, one of whom was also injured by gunfire and subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Last week, Mobile County deputies executed a search warrant at the residence in Prichard where the shooting had taken place, primarily to obtain any available video surveillance footage. Through the footage obtained, detectives were able to identify the suspects as Robert Lamar McMillian, 19, from Semmes, and Laderick Davis, 20, from Prichard.

Warrants for murder and first-degree assault were issued for both individuals on the following Friday.

On Tuesday, a detective from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia informed Mobile detectives that they had successfully apprehended Davis. Three other individuals had been passengers in a vehicle driven by Davis, but managed to escape the scene on foot. Two firearms were recovered from the vehicle. Davis is currently in custody in Cobb County awaiting extradition to Mobile.

Meanwhile, McMillian remains at large. The MCSO is urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact them at 251-574-8633 or submit a tip online at www.mobileso.com/crimetips/.
