New Delhi: Pune Teen Porsche Driver Granted Bail with 7 Conditions

Following a fatal accident involving a 17-year-old Pune boy driving his father’s Rs 2.5 crore Porsche supercar, the Juvenile Justice Board has granted him bail under strict conditions. The boy, who was allegedly heavily drunk at the time of the incident, collided with and killed two people on a two-wheeler.

According to a report by NDTV, the Juvenile Justice Board imposed seven conditions for the teen’s bail, including two bonds of Rs 7,500 each, a 300-word essay on road safety, and various educational requirements related to traffic rules and de-addiction counselling.

Strict Bail Conditions

• The boy must visit the RTO office, study all rules and regulations, and submit a presentation to the Juvenile Justice Board.
• He will assist RTO officials in studying traffic rules for 15 days and submit a detailed report.
• He is required to undergo external de-addiction counselling for alcohol consumption.
• Consultation with psychiatrists at Sassoon Hospital is mandatory, with a report to be submitted within 15 days.
• The boy’s parent must ensure his presence before the Juvenile Justice Board as needed and keep him away from negative influences.

Despite objections from the deceased’s family and the police’s desire to charge the teen as an adult, the boy’s grandfather provided assurances that led to the granting of bail. The boy’s lawyers argued that he was falsely implicated and would comply with all conditions imposed on him.

Legal Ramifications

The boy faces charges under the Motor Vehicles Act for drunk driving and could potentially be charged under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The decision on trying him as an adult is pending.

Police Investigation

Pune Police chief, Amitesh Kumar, stated that a strong case is being built against the boy, with evidence suggesting that he had knowledge of the potential consequences of his actions. The boy’s father, who was arrested in connection with the incident, is also under scrutiny.

Family’s Demand

The family of the deceased victims has demanded the cancellation of the boy’s bail, emphasizing the severity of the incident and the need for accountability.
