ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Two individuals from Odessa, identified as Noe Castillo-Renteria, aged 29, and his uncle, Jose Garcia-Renteria, aged 38, have been apprehended in connection with a violent incident that occurred earlier this month, resulting in the injury of one individual.

An incident report from the Odessa Police Department indicated that the events unfolded around 9:25 p.m. on May 9 in the 2700 block of N John Ben Shepperd Parkway, specifically in the Taboo’s parking lot. A 28-year-old woman approached an officer conducting a traffic stop, informing them that two men were in pursuit of another individual, one of whom was brandishing a firearm.

Upon receiving this information, law enforcement officers attempted to locate a Ford F-350 believed to be linked to the episode. Subsequently, the vehicle was sighted in the parking lot of Quick Track at 4525 E University. However, the driver of the vehicle absconded from the scene as officers approached.

At the Quick Track parking lot, officers encountered a 28-year-old man who was visibly injured and actively bleeding. This individual was identified as the victim of an altercation initiated while he was dining at Taboo.

Both the victim and the woman who reported the incident stated that they had dined at the restaurant and were confronted by Noe Castillo-Renteria, the woman’s spouse, and his uncle, Jose Garcia-Renteria, upon exiting the establishment. A physical altercation ensued between the trio, during which Castillo-Renteria was purportedly captured on video pointing a firearm at the victim.

Subsequently, the victim fled the scene and sought refuge at the gas station, but both suspects pursued him, continuing their assault in the parking lot and striking the victim in the head with an unidentified object. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras, corroborated by witness statements, prompting law enforcement officers to seek arrest warrants for both individuals.

Noe Castillo-Renteria and Jose Garcia-Renteria were taken into custody on May 18. Records from the detention facility indicate that both men remain incarcerated at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center as of May 22, each held on a $25,000 bond with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.
