In another heartbreaking incident, the body of a 73-year-old woman was discovered during a welfare check at her residence in Ypsilanti Township. Additionally, the grandson of the deceased woman has been arrested and charged with open murder in connection to the case.

Further adding to the grim statistics are the cases of Nicholas Jernigan, 44, and Donna Marie Johnson, 66, who lost their lives in separate violent incidents. Jernigan was fatally shot during an argument at a prom send-off, while Johnson’s body was discovered with multiple wounds, including stab wounds, in her home. Both cases have resulted in arrests and charges of open murder against the suspects involved.
