Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities have identified the individual who was tragically shot by a Washington state trooper following an altercation on Interstate 5 just north of Seattle last week. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the deceased was 31-year-old Marvin Arellano from Nampa, Idaho. The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident unfolded when the state patrol received a report of a man wielding a hammer on the shoulder of the northbound I-5 in Everett on Thursday. The man, later identified as Arellano, began ramming into a Department of Transportation contractor vehicle that was operating a lift over a slough, with two contractors inside, as previously disclosed by investigators.

Law enforcement officials have recounted that Arellano proceeded to assault the road workers and a responding trooper, who ultimately fired the fatal shots. Despite efforts by law enforcement to render aid, Arellano succumbed to his injuries at the scene. One of the contractors sustained injuries during the incident.

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, responsible for probing police use of force, has not yet responded to inquiries from The Associated Press regarding the status of the investigation.

As of now, the identity of the trooper involved in the shooting remains undisclosed.
