HERKIMER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — According to authorities in Herkimer, three individuals were apprehended in Herkimer on Monday, May 20, after they tried to make a withdrawal using a counterfeit driver’s licence.

Law enforcement officials responded to a report from a woman at the Woodforest Bank located at the Wal-Mart in Herkimer Village around 6 p.m. on Monday. The woman, later identified as Kelly Arrigo, 49, from Brooklyn, was attempting to withdraw money using a fake driver’s license and was subsequently taken into custody.

Two men who were accompanying Arrigo, identified as Jason and Jordan Arzu, both 24 years old and from the Bronx, were found near their vehicle close to the Arc Goods Store, not far from the Wal-Mart. They were also apprehended shortly after.

Further investigations revealed that the trio had made a stop in Herkimer on their way to Buffalo and were allegedly planning to engage in fraudulent activities at various banking institutions from New York City to Buffalo.

It was uncovered during the probe that the three suspects were believed to be part of a criminal network that carried out fraudulent activities using stolen identities from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Additionally, it was found that Arrigo had a significant criminal record in the area, while Jason Arzu had a pending case of forgery and identity theft in Pennsylvania for which he was out on bail. Jordan Arzu, on the other hand, had a pending case related to firearms forgery in New York.

All three individuals have been charged with the following offences:

  • Second Degree Felony: Possession of a Forged Instrument, a Class D Felony
  • Attempted Grand Theft in the Fourth Degree, a Class A Misdemeanour
  • Fifth-degree conspiracy, a Class A Misdemeanour

The suspects were transported to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility where they are being held in lieu of $10,000 bail and $20,000 bond. Authorities have indicated that additional charges are pending in this case.
