WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WISN) – A shocking social media post shared by a prominent city official in Illinois has sparked intense backlash from the local community.

The Waukegan City Council meeting on Monday was filled with horror and outrage as residents and Mayor Ann Taylor expressed their shock over a photo that surfaced on Waukegan Alderman Keith Turner’s Facebook page. The image appeared to show a severed human arm, causing widespread dismay and concern.

Mayor Taylor was visibly shaken by the disturbing post, stating, “I was truly taken aback when I saw that picture. I can only imagine the anguish that the mother of the victim must be experiencing.”

The post in question is believed to be related to the tragic case of Sade Robinson, a Milwaukee woman who was allegedly killed and dismembered after a first date last month. While authorities are still investigating the origins of the arm discovered in Waukegan on May 11, it remains unclear if it belongs to Robinson. Alderman Turner’s initial post included a graphic image of the severed limb, accompanied by a caption that has since been deleted.

Expressing her outrage, Mayor Taylor remarked, “My heart goes out to the family of the victim. As a mother and grandmother myself, I cannot fathom the pain they are enduring. It is truly despicable to subject them to such gruesome imagery.”

Despite the post being taken down, Alderwoman Lynn Florian emphasised that the city council has not forgotten the incident. She indicated that there are plans to address the matter and potentially censure Alderman Turner during the next council meeting.

In a letter penned by Robinson’s family’s attorney, they called for Turner to be dismissed from his position, stating, “I have been longing for my child, and when I saw her body again, it should have been a private moment for my family only.”

At the council meeting, Alderman Turner opted not to address the issue directly, leaving many in attendance frustrated and demanding accountability.

Mayor Taylor sought to reassure the community, stating, “Waukegan stands in solidarity with the victim’s family. This reprehensible act does not reflect the values of our city; it was the actions of an individual.”
