Ohio man accused of horrific injuries to girlfriend’s son.
Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A man from Cincinnati, Edward Murray, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son, Kareem Keita. The tragic incident took place on May 1, and Kareem was brought to a hospital in Cincinnati four days later, where he was pronounced dead. The injuries sustained by the toddler were described as severe and unfathomable.
The Horrific Injuries
An autopsy revealed that Kareem suffered cardiac arrest due to being beaten, leading to his untimely death. Additionally, he had severe skull fractures, subdural hemorrhage, rib fractures, retinal hemorrhages, and liver lacerations. The physicians who examined Kareem’s body stated that these injuries could only have been caused by violent impacts or delivered blows.
The Tragic Events
Prosecutors allege that on the fateful day, Murray, who had been dating Aminata for three months, was playing outside with Kareem. Later that evening, he brought the toddler inside, skipped dinner, and spent time with him in the bedroom. Murray and Aminata then smoked marijuana together for several hours without checking on Kareem. The next morning, Murray was alone with the child again.
Legal Actions
Murray has been indicted on two counts of murder, one count of child endangerment, and one count of felonious assault. He is currently held in Cincinnati’s Hamilton County Jail on a $1 million bail. Prosecutor Melissa Powers described the case as “heartbreaking and sickening,” emphasizing the evil required to harm an innocent child.
