LONDON, UK—Law enforcement authorities were called to the scene of a tragic shooting incident that occurred at 79-45 Metropolitan Avenue on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at around 3:25 AM. The victim, a 19-year-old male identified as Joshua Taylor from Brooklyn, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst.
Another individual, a 21-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center via private means.
After a thorough investigation, the Metropolitan Police Service arrested three suspects on Tuesday in connection with the shooting. The individuals taken into custody were Damone Miller, 21, from Brooklyn; Dante Hunter, 25, from Queens; and Shamel Capers, 26, from Hackensack, NJ. They have been charged with attempted murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to unravel the events leading up to the tragic incident.
