Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a recent development, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has identified another set of human remains recovered at the former home of Herb Baumeister in Westfield, Indiana. The remains, originally discovered in 1996 at Fox Hollow Farm, have been identified as belonging to Jeffrey Jones, a Fillmore resident who was reported missing in August 1993.

This discovery follows the identification of Allen Livingston, another missing person connected to Baumeister, whose remains were found on the same site last year. Jeffrey Jones is now the third person to have been identified from the remains recovered at Fox Hollow Farm.

The former residence of Herb Baumeister, Fox Hollow Farm, was the scene of heinous crimes committed by the Indiana serial killer. Baumeister is believed to have lured gay men to his home in the mid-80s and mid-90s before killing them and disposing of their bodies on the property. The investigation into Baumeister’s crimes has unearthed more than 10,000 pieces of remains, including bones, fragments, and body parts, with a total of 12 known victims identified so far.

Forensic Genetic Genealogy Investigation

The identification of Jeffrey Jones’ remains was made possible through an extensive forensic genetic genealogy investigation conducted by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office and the FBI. Despite the challenging nature of the investigation due to the condition of the remains, the dedicated team of law enforcement and forensic specialists remains committed to solving the case.

Special thanks were extended to the FBI, Indiana State Police Laboratory, Dr. Krista Latham of the Biology & Anthropology Department at the University of Indianapolis, and DNA experts from the Texas-based Othram Laboratory for their contributions to the investigation.

Unidentified DNA Profiles

With four DNA profiles still unidentified, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office plans to send these profiles to the FBI for further genetic genealogy investigation. The ongoing efforts to identify the remaining victims and bring closure to their families highlight the dedication of the investigative team.

The investigation into Herb Baumeister’s crimes began in 1996 when his son discovered bones on the family’s 18-acre estate. Baumeister passed away shortly after the discovery, leaving behind a trail of mystery and horror that continues to unfold decades later.

Stay tuned for further updates as authorities work tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and their families in this long-standing case.
