HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES — Two individuals have been apprehended by authorities on Tuesday in relation to the assault on actor Ian Ziering in Hollywood that occurred in December, the police department has confirmed.
The incident transpired on the afternoon of December 31 near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Ian Ziering, known for his role in “Beverly Hills 90210”, was driving with his daughter when he became embroiled in a confrontation involving several individuals on minibikes. The altercation reportedly began when one of the minibike riders collided with Ziering’s vehicle.
“In an attempt to assess any damage, I exited my car,” Ziering shared on his Instagram account following the incident. “Unfortunately, this action escalated into a physical altercation, which I had to navigate to ensure my safety.”
An official statement from the LAPD described the sequence of events: “The dispute initiated between the victim and one of the minibike riders regarding potential damage to his car. Subsequently, three to four additional minibike riders joined in and attacked the motorist. One of the minibike riders was caught on camera wielding an object towards the victim, narrowly missing him. Following the assault, the minibike riders vandalized the motorist’s vehicle while his ten-year-old child was seated in the front.”
Fortunately, Ian Ziering and his daughter did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of the altercation.
Several witnesses recorded video footage of the incident, aiding the police in their investigation.
On Tuesday morning, LAPD detectives executed search warrants at two residences around 6 a.m. and took two suspects into custody.
The individuals apprehended have been identified as Jacob Esteban Hernandez, 20, from Rosemead, and Angie Teresa Guizar, 40, from Los Angeles.
Hernandez has been charged with felony vandalism and his bail has been set at $50,000. Guizar, on the other hand, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $30,000.
