Geoff Kitchen’s untimely passing during the flight’s severe turbulence has deeply saddened the theater group, as he was known for his dedication and integrity in serving the community for over 35 years. Flight SQ321 encountered sudden extreme turbulence over the Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000 feet, leading to a rapid drop in altitude. The airline attributed the turbulence to severe tropical thunderstorms in the region, forcing an emergency landing approximately 10 hours after takeoff.

Tragically, Geoff Kitchen lost his life in the incident, while over 70 other passengers sustained injuries. The flight, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, had a diverse mix of nationalities on board.
