Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The human remains discovered in East Chicago in February have been identified as belonging to 23-year-old Davione Comanse. The Indiana State Laboratory confirmed the DNA results, establishing that Amber Broadnax is Comanse’s mother, as reported by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on May 14.

Discovery of the Remains

Amber Broadnax filed a missing person’s report after not hearing from or seeing her son since September 23, 2022. The East Chicago officers were notified of possible human remains near the railroad tracks on 149th Place and Parrish Avenue around 5 p.m. on February 4. A man who was walking in the area discovered what appeared to be a human skull in the grassy area and reported it to the authorities.

Investigation and Autopsy Findings

Upon closer inspection, the officers located the skull and later found more remains, including a jacket and part of a vertebrae. A thorough search conducted on February 5, with the assistance of a drone and cadaver K9, revealed additional evidence. An autopsy carried out at the Lake County Coroner’s Office determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. This finding was further confirmed by the Director of Anthropology at the University of Indianapolis on April 29.

Closure and Fundraising

Amber Broadnax expressed relief at finally having closure after nearly two years of uncertainty. She set up a Gofundme page to raise funds for her son’s funeral, stating, “To know him is to love him.” The family is now able to lay Davione Comanse to rest with the dignity he deserves.
