Accident – Death – Obituary News :

TERRELL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB/Gray News) – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Terrell County, Georgia, where a young high school student tragically lost his life in a car crash on Monday, as confirmed by officials.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that the accident took place in the early hours of the morning on Bobby Locke Road. The crash involved a single vehicle, a white Ford F-150, which was travelling south on Bobby Locke Road when it veered off the highway while negotiating a curve, ultimately ending up on the east shoulder and travelling for approximately 260 feet.

The vehicle then collided with a culvert, causing it to become airborne and make contact with a guy wire. The passenger in the truck, Vansh Patel, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The truck continued its trajectory south, still in the air, until it struck a tree with its roof, coming to a stop on its side.

Tragically, the driver of the vehicle, identified as David Mullins, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mullins was a recent graduate of Deerfield-Windsor High School, where he had excelled academically and athletically.

The school community, particularly the football team, is mourning the loss of Mullins. Head football coach Brian McCrae took to Facebook to express his sorrow over the passing of the talented young student-athlete.

“The Lord took David Mullins from us last night, and none of us are ready to let him go,” McCrae wrote in his heartfelt post. “Our hearts go out to the Mullins family and all of us who are grieving the loss of this incredible young man.”

McCrae also extended his prayers to Vansh Patel and his family, as they navigate through this difficult time.

Coroner Michael Fowler previously revealed on Facebook that Mullins had been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Albany Rotary Club and had plans to further his education at the University of Georgia.

Deerfield-Windsor Head of School Allen Lowe declined to comment on Mullins’ passing but assured that the school is providing support to the grieving family and students.

WALB has reached out to the Georgia State Patrol for additional information regarding the crash.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Mullins’ family with funeral expenses. The fundraiser has already surpassed its original goal of $5,000, with over $28,000 raised as of Tuesday.
