In a devastating turn of events, a recently graduated high school student from Deerfield-Windsor High School in Terrell County, Georgia, lost his life in a fatal car crash on Bobby Locke Road. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Monday morning, has left the community in mourning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash involved a single vehicle, a white Ford F-150, that veered off the road while negotiating a curve, leading to a series of tragic events. The truck first left the highway and travelled approximately 260 feet on the east shoulder before colliding with a culvert, causing it to become airborne and hit a guy wire.

During the course of the crash, a passenger in the vehicle, Vansh Patel, was ejected from the truck. The vehicle continued south, still airborne, and ultimately collided with a tree, coming to a stop on its side.

Tragically, the driver of the vehicle, identified as David Mullins, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Mullins, a recent high school graduate, had just completed his studies at Deerfield-Windsor High School, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and dedication.

The news of Mullins’ passing has shaken the community, with the school’s head football coach, Brian McCrae, expressing his grief in a heartfelt Facebook post. McCrae described Mullins as an incredible young man and extended his condolences to Mullins’ family and friends.

In a poignant tribute to Mullins, McCrae emphasised the importance of honouring Mullins’ memory by living life to the fullest, as Mullins would have wanted.

Michael Fowler, the local coroner, previously announced that Mullins had been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Albany Rotary Club and had plans to attend the University of Georgia, highlighting his bright future that was tragically cut short.

The Deerfield-Windsor Head of School, Allen Lowe, expressed his condolences for Mullins’ family and friends, stating that the school is providing support and assistance during this difficult time.
