Accident – Death – Obituary News :

ST. GENEVIEVE, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A transgender woman from St. Louis has been identified as the victim whose body was discovered along the Mississippi River.

The community of St. Genevieve, Missouri, is in shock after the body of 23-year-old Darri Moore was found along the banks of the Mississippi River. Darri, a transgender woman, was beloved by her friends and family.

According to childhood friend, Izzy Baker, Darri was a vibrant and confident individual who would never have willingly put herself in harm’s way. “She was not by herself. She loved herself too much to walk out on that river,” Baker expressed.

The discovery of Darri’s body was made by employees of Tower Rock Stone in St. Genevieve on May 1. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the autopsy results were inconclusive in determining the cause of death. However, authorities have ruled out foul play.

Speaking to First Alert 4, a spokesperson for the investigation stated that they are seeking assistance from the public to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Darri’s death. The case remains open, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Baker, along with others close to Darri, have set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses. In addition to financial support, Baker hopes that raising awareness about the dangers faced by transgender individuals will prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Expressing frustration over the lack of answers, Baker said, “I just hate that her mother doesn’t have any answers. Her father doesn’t have any answers. Her sister doesn’t have any answers. I don’t have any answers.”

Those who may have been in contact with Darri prior to her disappearance are urged to contact the St. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office at (573) 883-5820. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through CrimeStoppers at (866) 371-8477.

In a plea for justice, Baker stated, “She has a story and I want her story to be heard. Somebody knows what happened, and it’s crucial that the truth comes to light.”
