Accident – Death – Obituary News :

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) – A wedding night celebration in Kentucky took a dark turn as the groom, Corey Parker, found himself in a troubling situation that landed him in jail along with another man. The incident also left a third man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his hand.

According to reports from Indiana State Police, the chaotic events unfolded after a woman called 911 to report an altercation involving Parker, who was accused of shooting her boyfriend during a heated argument with Jonathon Goff.

The woman claimed that the shooting seemed to have occurred accidentally amidst the chaos of the argument, which she believed was fuelled by alcohol.

The unfortunate incident took place shortly after Parker had just celebrated his marriage. Public records indicate that Parker and his wife officially tied the knot back in 2022.

Parker explained to the authorities that his bride had left with Goff’s wife to return to their hotel, setting the stage for the escalating tensions. Goff allegedly found himself in a dispute with his own wife, who accused him of inappropriate behaviour with another woman.

As Parker was preparing to leave the scene, a confrontation ensued between him and Goff, resulting in a physical altercation where both men pushed each other. Parker claimed that Goff made a sudden move towards him, prompting him to retreat to his car.

According to Parker’s account, Goff attempted to reach for a gun stored in the car’s centre console, leading to a struggle for control of the weapon. In the midst of the scuffle, the gun accidentally discharged, striking the woman’s boyfriend who had called emergency services.

Parker insisted that he had no intention of harming anyone and believed that the third man was trying to intervene and seize the gun from him and Goff. He was subsequently charged with battery for striking Goff and criminal recklessness for the gunshot injury inflicted on the third man.

Goff faced similar charges and has pleaded not guilty. He was granted a $3,000 cash bond pending his trial, which is scheduled to take place in September.

Both individuals are now awaiting their day in court as the legal proceedings unfold in the aftermath of the unfortunate incident that marred what was supposed to be a joyous wedding celebration.
