Puppy Rescued by NYPD Officers After Suffering Horrific Injuries and Abuse

A puppy is currently recovering after being rescued by NYPD officers and rushed to the vet due to horrific injuries and abuse by his owner. The 1-year-old poodle named Rocket was found in a shocking condition by officers from the 33 precinct, with signs of a traumatic brain injury, shock, and unstable heart and blood pressure levels.

The incident took place on Thursday, May 16, when officers responded to a report of a woman abusing the tiny poodle. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reported that Rocket was in critical condition and needed immediate medical attention.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers apprehended the woman responsible for Rocket’s abuse and rushed the injured puppy to the vet for emergency treatment. The female officer who carried Rocket to safety was visibly emotional, and blood stains on the dog’s fur highlighted the severity of the situation.

Emergency Medical Treatment for Rocket

After being transferred to the Animal Medical Center, a veterinary partner of the ASPCA, Rocket received urgent medical care to address his injuries. The veterinary team diagnosed Rocket with a fractured femur and a hemoabdomen, indicating internal bleeding in his belly. The poodle underwent surgery and received a blood transfusion to stabilize his condition.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Rocket managed to survive the initial trauma, thanks to the swift actions of the NYPD officers and the dedicated medical staff at the Animal Medical Center.

Legal Action Against the Abuser

The owner of the abused poodle, identified as 25-year-old Cleopatra Morgan, is now facing multiple charges related to aggravated cruelty to an animal, possession of a weapon, and torture injury to an animal. Additionally, Morgan was charged with false impersonation for providing authorities with a fake name during the arrest.

The ASPCA and the NYPD are working together to ensure that justice is served for Rocket and that he receives the care and support needed for his recovery.

Gratitude for the Rescuers

The ASPCA and the Animal Medical Center expressed their gratitude towards the NYPD officers for their quick response and efforts in saving Rocket’s life. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement and animal welfare organizations are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of animals in distress.

As Rocket continues his journey towards recovery, the community is rallying behind him with support and well wishes for a brighter future ahead.
