Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in Arizona as a man and his two young children were discovered dead in their home in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. The father, identified as 34-year-old Brock Mater, was found alongside his children, aged 6 and 7, in their Surprise residence. The discovery was made after a concerned woman, going through a divorce with Mater, alerted the police when she became worried about her children’s unexplained absence from school.

Surprise police officers responded to the call and attempted to make contact with Mater at his home. Despite multiple attempts to reach him, including phone calls and knocking on the door, there was no response. Upon entering the residence for a welfare check, officers found the family deceased, all with gunshot wounds to the head. A rifle was discovered on Mater’s lap, indicating a possible murder-suicide scenario.

It has been revealed that Mater was undergoing mental health treatment at the time of the incident. Despite the separation from his wife, he was actively seeking help and responding well to the treatment according to statements from Surprise Police Sgt. Rick Hernandez. It was highlighted that Mater had no prior criminal record, but authorities had previously responded to a mental health crisis involving him last October.

In a separate incident in Surprise, a 51-year-old man named Todd Christopher Marchetti was involved in a standoff with law enforcement after breaking into a residence and holding a woman and her 6-month-old baby hostage. The situation escalated, resulting in a fire breaking out in the house. Marchetti was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while the baby sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for surgery.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family affected by the domestic violence incident. The fundraiser has raised nearly $145,000 to assist with housing, support services, and replacing belongings lost or damaged in the fire. An update on the campaign indicated that the infant is showing signs of improvement, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy..
