Accident – Death – Obituary News : Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating motorcycle accident that occurred in LaPorte County. The incident took place at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to the initial on-scene investigation, a green 2012 Can-Am Spyder motorcycle was traveling northwest in the 3500 block of U.S. 35 when the collision occurred. The motorcycle veered off the road, crossed a lawn, and ultimately collided with a tree and landscaping. The impact caused the motorcycle to continue off the roadway, crashing into boulders before coming to a stop in a vegetable garden.
Tragically, both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The driver was identified as 58-year-old Steven A. Dabney, hailing from Kingsford Heights. The passenger was identified as 59-year-old Anna M. Thomas, also from Kingsford Heights.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders pronounced Thomas dead. Dabney was quickly transported to the hospital by ground ambulance, but sadly, he was later pronounced dead as well. The entire community mourns the loss of these two individuals, whose lives were cut short in this tragic accident.
As authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, toxicology tests are currently pending. The results of these tests may provide crucial insights into the events leading up to this heartbreaking incident.
