Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The arraignment of top golfer Scottie Scheffler has been delayed by nearly two weeks after his recent arrest in Louisville, Kentucky. Scheffler, the world’s number one golfer, was detained by police near the Valhalla Golf Club, where he was scheduled to compete in the PGA Championship.

According to reports, Scheffler allegedly ignored police traffic signals and assaulted a police officer while driving near the golf club. The athlete was arrested just hours before his second-round tee time at the prestigious tournament.

Initially set for Tuesday morning, Scheffler’s arraignment on charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals has been rescheduled to June 3 at 9 a.m., as per online court records.

The decision to postpone the arraignment was made by the district judge overseeing the case, despite objections from Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell. The district attorney’s office continues to gather information related to the case.

In a statement to local media, Scheffler’s attorney, Steve Romines, indicated that they plan to plead not guilty to all charges brought against the golfer.

The incident occurred following a fatal accident near the Valhalla Golf Club, where a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus. The confusion around the accident led to Scheffler allegedly driving past police roadblocks and refusing to comply with an officer’s instructions.

Scheffler has maintained that the events were a result of misunderstanding and chaotic circumstances. He expressed regret for any confusion and reiterated his intention to follow police directives.

An internal investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department is underway to review the circumstances of Scheffler’s arrest. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg has assured the public that any policy violations will be addressed appropriately.

Despite the incident, Scheffler managed to return to the PGA Championship and finished in eighth place. The PGA of America has pledged full cooperation with local authorities in the ongoing investigation.

Scheffler, a four-time tournament winner this year, including a victory at The Masters, has vowed to put the incident behind him and focus on his passion for golf.
