Accident – Death – Obituary News : Shreveport, LA- A man was apprehended by the Shreveport Police Canine Unit after attempting to evade authorities on the evening of May 17. The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. when Shreveport Police officers tried to pull over a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Milam Street and Hearne Avenue. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Patrick Williams, chose to flee the scene, sparking a pursuit.
The chase came to a halt when Williams abandoned the vehicle and sought refuge in a wooded area near Maple Street. To aid in the search for the suspect, Shreveport Police called upon their Canine Unit, specifically Canine Storm, who quickly sprang into action.
With remarkable efficiency, Storm managed to track down Williams within the wooded expanse. Subsequently, Williams was taken into custody and charged with illegal possession of stolen property, resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, and obstruction of a state highway.
Following the incident, Williams received treatment for minor injuries sustained during his attempted escape. The Shreveport Police department commended the efforts of both Storm and his handler for swiftly resolving the situation without any further complications.
As a reminder, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
