CHARLOTTE — A teacher from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools District is facing charges after being accused of engaging in sexual activity with a student.

The incident came to light when a school resource officer at Olympic High School received a tip about an inappropriate relationship between a female teacher and an 18-year-old male student.

Following this information, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit launched an investigation into the matter.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Olivia Dennis, was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student by a teacher.

After her arrest, Dennis was taken to the Law Enforcement Center before being transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
