A 16-year-old boy, identified as Nithin from Shiroor in Byndoor, tragically took his own life after an incident at his school. Nithin had gone to the government high school to collect his Transfer Certificate (TC) following the completion of his Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams.
According to reports, Nithin was met with rejection and humiliation by the headteacher of the school when he requested his TC. Feeling dejected and hopeless, Nithin decided to end his life on May 20 when he was alone at home between 12 noon and 12.30 pm.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Nithin left behind a suicide note accusing the headteacher of the school of insulting him and refusing to issue the TC. This note, detailing the circumstances that led to his decision, served as a haunting reminder of the impact of bullying and humiliation on vulnerable individuals.
The Byndoor police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code in response to the tragedy. Meanwhile, Nithin’s family members have staged a protest outside the police station, demanding justice and the arrest of those responsible for his untimely death.
