Human bones, including a skull, were discovered in a wooded neighbourhood in Easton, Massachusetts earlier this month. The remains were identified on Tuesday as belonging to a man who was reported missing in 2021.
The discovery was made on May 1st when police received a report of potential human remains found in a stream near 100 Summer St. in Easton. The neighbourhood is situated less than half a mile southwest of the town’s school complex.
Further remains were uncovered during subsequent searches the following day, shedding more light on the mysterious case.
The Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an examination and confirmed that the remains belonged to a man. Through dental records, the man was identified as Matthew Yeomans, as revealed by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Yeomans, who was 25 years old at the time, was reported missing in September 2021 by his grandfather. His disappearance was marked by leaving his phone and wallet inside his home, prompting concerns and a search for his whereabouts.
The location of the remains, just a few houses away from Yeomans’ residence, added another layer of intrigue to the investigation.
