Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Clifton Heights, UNITED KINGDOM — Marson Weh, a 24-year-old man from Clifton Heights, has been deemed incompetent to stand trial for the murder of 15-year-old Michael Garr in Upper Darby. Weh is facing charges of first-degree murder and related offenses in the stabbing death of Garr on April 21, 2023.

Details of the Incident

The tragic incident took place in the 200 block of Bridge Street, where Garr was walking home from his girlfriend’s house in Clifton Heights. Surveillance footage showed Weh following Garr to the location where the attack occurred. Weh was seen within close proximity to Garr moments before the fatal stabbing.

After the stabbing, Weh was identified through facial recognition technology and arrested on an assault and carjacking warrant from Ohio. DNA evidence linking Weh to the crime was also found on his clothing.

Legal Proceedings

During a recent court hearing, First Assistant District Attorney Tanner Rouse informed Judge G. Michael Green that both a defense witness and a commonwealth expert had determined that Weh was incompetent to stand trial. As a result, all court proceedings, including extradition hearings, have been halted.

Rouse suggested that Weh be housed at the state hospital in Norristown until he is deemed competent to stand trial. Defense counsel Joseph Schulz agreed with this recommendation, citing assessments from two qualified psychologists.

Next Steps

Judge Green scheduled the next status date for July 15 to reevaluate Weh’s competency. In the meantime, Weh will remain at the state hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer previously stated that there appeared to be no motive for Garr’s killing, describing it as a random and senseless act of violence.

For now, the community awaits further developments in this tragic case as the legal process unfolds.
