Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred in Venkatraopet village of Rajanna Sircilla district in Telangana on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a female worker and injuries to six others. The unfortunate event took place at a local tank where the workers were involved in digging a trench as part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The victim, identified as Marpaka Rajavva, aged 50 and a resident of Venkatraopet village in Konaraopet mandal, sustained serious injuries when a large mound of earth collapsed on her and her colleagues at the work site around 9 a.m. Following the incident, all seven workers were promptly transported to the Government hospital in Sircilla for medical attention. Tragically, Rajavva passed away while receiving treatment, while the other injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition.
This heartbreaking occurrence serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by workers engaged in manual labour, particularly in projects like the MGNREGS that aim to provide employment opportunities in rural areas. The safety and well-being of workers should always be a top priority, with measures in place to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.
