A 17-year-old has been taken into custody for his role in a tragic accident that occurred in New Milford, Connecticut last September. The incident resulted in the death of a high school student and left three others injured.
Authorities were called to the scene of the crash on September 23rd on Danbury Road (Route 7), right in front of the Italia Maria Restaurant & Pizzeria. According to reports, a 2006 Infiniti G35 was heading north on Route 7 in the right lane when it collided with a 2002 Hyundai Tucson that was attempting to turn left into the restaurant from the southbound lane.
The passenger in the Infiniti, identified as 17-year-old Julio Gomez, was rushed to Danbury Hospital Emergency Department where he was tragically pronounced dead.
After a thorough investigation, a 17-year-old male was arrested on May 16th for his involvement in the crash. Evidence pointed to his excessive speed as the primary cause of the collision.
The teenager is now facing a slew of charges, including first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
