EVANS MILLS, New York (WWNY/Gray News) – A devastating incident occurred in Evans Mills, New York, as a 16-year-old high school student tragically passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning following what authorities have described as an after-prom party.
According to reports by WWNY, local officers responded to a distressing call at a residence in Evans Mills at approximately 3:15 a.m., where they discovered an unconscious male lying in the driveway. The young boy, identified as Jordan Drake, was swiftly transported to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was later pronounced dead.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that Drake had attended an after-prom gathering in the town of Theresa earlier that evening. The teenager, a student at Indian River High School in Philadelphia, New York, was well-known within the community and had close ties with many individuals.
The Indian River High School community has been left devastated by the loss of Jordan Drake. School officials took to Facebook to express their condolences and announced that grief counselors would be available for students and staff members from the following day.
In a heartfelt message on social media, district Superintendent Troy Decker urged the community to come together in solidarity by wearing the school colors of blue and white as a symbol of unity and support during this difficult time.

“We know our students and staff will lean on each other as they remember their classmate, student, friend, cousin, and fellow Indian River student,” Decker wrote. “This can be a difficult time for everyone, but we remain strong as a school community. Our heartfelt condolences and thoughts go out to Jordan’s family and friends.”
