EVANS MILLS, New York (WWNY/Gray News) – A devastating incident occurred in Evans Mills, New York, where a 16-year-old high school student tragically lost his life during the early hours of Sunday morning following an after-prom party.
According to reports by WWNY, authorities responded to a distress call at a residence in Evans Mills at approximately 3:15 a.m., where they found an unconscious male in the driveway.
The young boy, identified as Jordan Drake, was swiftly transported to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
Initial investigations suggest that Drake had attended an after-prom gathering in the town of Theresa earlier that evening.
Jordan Drake was a student at Indian River High School located in Philadelphia, New York.
In response to this tragic loss, school authorities publicly acknowledged Drake’s passing on their Facebook page and announced that grief counselors would be available for students starting Monday.
The community has been urged to wear the school colors of blue and white as a tribute to the teenager and a symbol of solidarity.
Superintendent Troy Decker expressed, “We are a unified school, a single family, a cohesive community, and we stand together in times of joy and sorrow. Many of us are experiencing deep pain right now and will rely on the support, companionship, and unity that we share, so please join us in donning blue and white tomorrow to demonstrate our collective strength.”
Described as an “active IRHS student with numerous close friends and strong family connections within the community,” Jordan Drake’s passing has deeply impacted those who knew him.
Decker further stated, “We trust that our students and staff will find solace in each other as they honour the memory of their classmate, student, friend, cousin, and fellow Indian River student. This is a challenging period for everyone, but we remain resilient as a school community. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with Jordan’s loved ones and friends.”
