WEBB COUNTY, TX (KGNS) – A man in Webb County, Texas, has been arrested after allegedly being paid over $15,000 to repair a tractor truck but failing to complete the repairs and instead selling parts of the vehicle.

According to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, the investigation began on Feb. 28, 2024, after a customer reported paying $15,538 to have his Freightliner tractor truck serviced by Texas Diesel Vacuum Truck Services in July 2023. However, the customer never received his truck.

The victim revealed that all communication with the business, owned by Gonzalo Medrano, 41, ceased by December 2023.

Authorities located Medrano at the 5900 block of Highway 359, only to find that the business had shut down. It was during this investigation that they discovered the stolen tractor truck abandoned at an empty lot near Francisco Guerra Road.

The tractor truck had been stripped of its engine and vacuum pump, which were estimated to have a value of $4,500, according to the sheriff’s office.

As a result of the investigation, Medrano was served with two arrest warrants for theft of property.
