LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) – A 20-year-old man involved in a tragic accident in Lexington has been granted bond by the Lexington Bond Court.

Bond Details

The court stated that Giovanni Mendoza Jimenez, the driver responsible for the crash, has been given the maximum bond for his charges, amounting to £1,527.50.

Charges

Mendoza Jimenez faces charges of driving without a license, speeding under conditions, and failure to stop when meeting or passing a stopped school bus.

Accident Details

According to investigators, the incident occurred when Mendoza Jimenez’s work van collided with a motorcycle and a school bus. The motorcycle had stopped behind the school bus to pick up students when the van crashed into it, pinning the motorcyclist, 45-year-old Douglas Ratcliffe, against the bus.

Victims

Tragically, Douglas Ratcliffe succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Additionally, a student sustained a minor cut on the arm as a result of the collision.

Current Status

At present, Mendoza Jimenez remains in custody and has not been released on bond.
