Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Seattle residents came together to honour the memory of 52-year-old Daravuth Van, who tragically lost his life to a vicious ax assault. The community gathered to pay their respects to the victim who was found dead due to severe ax wounds.

According to recent reports, two homeless individuals in Seattle fell victim to a brutal ax attack and were allegedly murdered by the same suspect. Liam Kryger, a 25-year-old, is currently being held without bail at the King County Jail.

Law enforcement officials have linked both murders to Kryger, as per court documents obtained by FOX 13 Seattle. Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz revealed that Kryger was apprehended with an ax during his arrest, potentially preventing another tragic incident.

The victims, Paul Ewell and Daravuth Van, were both targeted while they were asleep outdoors. The court documents suggest that Kryger meticulously scouted the areas before carrying out the attacks, passing by the victims, then circling back to launch his assaults.

Paul Ewell, a beloved 68-year-old individual cherished by his neighbours, was discovered bleeding on February 10. Details from court records indicate that within a span of less than two weeks, Kryger allegedly attacked both Ewell and Van, inflicting grievous injuries on them with an ax while they were sleeping. Ewell suffered severe trauma to his face and skull.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured Kryger walking past Ewell around 2:07 a.m., before returning with an ax. Allegedly, he waited for a passerby before approaching Ewell’s sleeping spot outside the Seattle Men’s Chorus Building.

On February 22, authorities were summoned to the Town Hall Building in the First Hill neighbourhood, approximately a mile from where Ewell was discovered. Under a tarp and blanket, the lifeless body of 52-year-old Daravuth Van was found with a deep head wound. Surveillance footage once again implicated an individual in the vicinity, allegedly carrying an ax.

Chief Diaz highlighted that surveillance operations were put in place due to the escalating violence. A detective reportedly spotted Kryger holding an object that was later identified as an ax, which he dropped as he attempted to flee.

The ax, purchased from a Lowe’s store off Rainier Avenue mere hours before Ewell’s murder, served as a crucial piece of evidence leading investigators to Kryger. An officer from the Department of Corrections recognised Kryger from surveillance stills, ultimately resulting in his arrest on March 3. Kryger admitted to purchasing the ax for “self-defence” and disposed of it when he felt it was no longer necessary.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office has filed two counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon against Kryger. Casey McNerthney, representing the prosecutor’s office, emphasised the importance of accountability in such cases, regardless of the victim’s identity.

During a search of Kryger’s residence, law enforcement officers uncovered a stolen computer from the Men’s and Women’s Chorus Building, taken just days before Ewell’s tragic demise. Kryger’s public defender declined to provide any comments on the matter.

If found guilty, Kryger could potentially face a life sentence in prison.
