YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — A horrifying incident unfolded at a sleepover in North Carolina, resulting in the tragic deaths of a woman and her daughter, while two juveniles were also injured in the shooting that took place on Saturday.

According to a news release from the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Danielle Hines, a correctional officer from Reidsville, was one of the victims who lost their lives in the shooting. The identity and age of her daughter have not been disclosed.

Hines and her daughter were pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by WXII-TV. Two other juveniles present at the sleepover were injured in the incident and were taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

The juvenile who lost their life in the shooting was a student at Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, according to reports. The other injured individuals included the victim’s 17-year-old brother and a fifth grader at Stoney Creek Elementary in Reidsville, as revealed by Caswell County Schools interim Superintendent Douglas N. Barker.

The sheriff’s office stated that at least 10 people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, although the motive behind the tragic incident remains unclear.

Danielle Hines had been serving as a correctional officer in Caswell County since December 2020, according to the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

The suspected shooter, identified as 36-year-old Anthony Lamont Siler, fatally shot himself during a traffic stop conducted by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, as detailed in the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office news release.

As investigations into the tragic incident continue, the community is left mourning the loss of lives in this senseless act of violence.
